With 2019, the program has some shared content (meaning it can share it with later versions) which is installed in a seperate location folder. A custom install allows you to do that if you don't want the default.
If you want to download and install in one operation - the installer can do that - then make sure you have chosen the install location also. All you have to do is choose a location for the download files - different from the last time so the installer does not think you already have it - and run. You don't select a download location - it's wired into the installer stub. At that point I deleted the entire folder from Program Files and gave up. When I clicked on the Videostudio executable I got a DLL error for "pexexif_res.dll". I saw that the program files appeared to have installed. Looking at my Windows logs I don't see any error messages. Where do I find them? The stub keeps telling me that it's verifying the download files, I get the bar showing the install is progressing, then it gives me the error message. I don't remember seeing an option for selecting a download location for the install files. I'm at work now so I can't test anything until I get home. I've also run the Videostudio 2019 clean-up program just to make sure the old install isn't an issue. As a precaution I've removed Videostudio 2019 (I'm going to reinstall it on my work computer). I only listed them in case they have issues that may be causing my problem. I just manually registered the product online and the serial number was accepted so at least we know that isn't an issue.
