The Marvel Studios' Disney+ series revealed that while the younger Rambeau disappeared for five years after she was affected by Thanos' (Josh Brolin) Snap, her mother has passed away.
Fast forward to 2023, and Monica is all grown up and now a member of SWORD, as seen in WandaVision. The daughter of Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch), Monica had a great relationship with her "aunt Carol." However, they were once again separated at the end of the movie after Captain Marvel decided to accompany the Skrulls in their quest to find their new home planet. Directed by Nia DaCosta, the upcoming project was originally known simply as Captain Marvel 2. However, with the additional involvement of both Monica and Kamala, the sequel's title was reworked to accurately reflect the team-up that the movie centers on, and was officially titled The Marvels.īoth Carol and Monica were introduced in Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck's 1995-set MCU project, Captain Marvel, and the character of Monica was still a young girl then.
